Should you start a business YouTube channel today?
So the question with starting a YouTube channel boils down to is it worth it? Is it worth the time and effort that it takes to put together? Is it going to increase my revenue? I can’t answer that for all businesses, but I think that there’s a particularly strong case for the business that serves a local market.
There are two reasons, first, Google and YouTube are together, and secondly, it helps you connect with your customers or potential customers. So let’s say I have a plumbing emergency in my home. I live in Kelowna, so I’m going to search for plumbers in Kelowna. And if that search brings up a video in the search results, I’m gonna click on it. And if you seem like a solid human being, I’m gonna give you a call. That’s kind of how that local benefit really stands out.
So with that, let’s run a little experiment. I’m just starting this channel, and let’s see how it helps those search rankings. So I’m in Kelowna, and I would fall under digital marketers, so if you could search Kelowna digital marketer, and then in the comments, post where it shows up in that search ranking, page one, page two, page three, and so on. And we’ll see over the course of some time here if those results are getting better and better.
If you are a local business, you’re serving the local community, a dentist, arborist, plumber, landscape contractor, realtor, chiropractor, restaurant, the list goes on and on. If you have a local service business, I think that it’s worth the time and effort to put into starting and growing your channel.
Are you using video in your business? If not, then what are the barriers that are keeping you from using video? Is it too complicated, takes too much time? So on and so forth. Let me know in the comments. And thanks for watching, and we’ll see you around.
